ROAD WARRIORS DOWN SURF 7-6ATLANTIC CITY _ The Road Warriors defeated the Atlantic City Surf 7-6 at Bernie Robbins Stadium before 1862 Tuesday night as the Atlantic League's traveling team continued to show its improvement on the season. It was the fourth time in 10 games that the Road Warriors beat the Surf and they did it by beating Atlantic City's Lincoln Mikkelsen, the Atlantic League's leading pitcher. The Road Warriors got nine hits and six runs off Mikkelsen in seven innings of work and scored five runs in the first two innings against the Surf ace. For the second consecutive night Atlantic City rallied from a 5-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth but couldn't finish as the Road Warriors got an unearned run in the seventh and another in the eighth. The Surf had two runners on against Melvin Pizarro in the ninth but he struck out Clyde Williams to end the game after the Surf pulled to within one run on a throwing error. Atlantic City also got home runs from Ozzie Timmons(9), Todd Leathers(9) and Melvin Rosario(4) but it wasn't enough to overcome the pesky Road Warriors. Mike Huggins was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a homer for the Road Warriors. Chris Steinborn, 1-2, earned the victory for the Road Warriors and Mikkeslen, 7-4, took the loss.
