Ducks Power Past Road Warriors 17-10 (5/29)

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 29, 2006) – Bucky Jacobsen’s three-run home run and grand slam not only propelled the Ducks to a 17-10 victory over the Road Warriors on Monday night, but also earned him a spot in the annals of Ducks history.

His seven RBI on the evening set a franchise record for most runs driven in, surpassing the old mark of six (set multiple times; last by Wendell Magee 8/23/04 vs. Pennsylvania). The two home runs also tied a franchise record for most round-trippers in a game (last by Kevin Baez, 8/11/04 vs. Somerset).

On the night, the teams combined for 27 runs on 37 hits and 17 walks. With the score knotted at one heading into the home half of the third, Long Island’s offense exploded for nine runs on seven hits and they never looked back, adding a run in the fourth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth. The Road Warriors continued to put runs on the board as well, posting a single run in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh frames before posting four in the top of the eighth and a pair in the ninth.

The Ducks 20-hit night was led by Mel Stocker, who finished the night 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Dominick Ambrosini added a three-run home run and Brad King hit his second dinger of the season, while Carlos Hernandez drove in three runs.

Pat Mahomes (4-1) picked up the win after allowing four runs on 11 hits and five walks over six frames. Chris Eickhorst (0-4) took the loss after allowing 10 runs on 12 hits and two walks in 2.2 innings of work.
