Road Warriors Put Up Stop Sign on Ducks 10-3 (5/14)(Central Islip, N.Y., May 14, 2006) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Road Warriors, 10-3, at Citibank Park on Sunday. The loss ended Long Island’s winning streak at six games. Despite the loss, the Ducks remain in first place in the Atlantic League North Division and lead the Bridgeport Bluefish by a game. The Road Warriors jumped to a 4-1 lead after the second inning and added a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and a pair in the seventh to increase their lead to 10-1. The Ducks notched two runs in the home half of the seventh to cut the lead to seven, but could not come any closer. Sandy Aracena was the offensive star for the Warriors going 2-for-5 with five RBI. Mike Ziegler (1-0) picked up the win for the Road Warriors after allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks over five innings of work. Damian Moss (0-1) took the loss for the Ducks after allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and four walks over three innings. Alberto Castillo picked up the save after allowing two runs on two hits in a four innings of relief. |
