Ducks Trounce Road Warriors 10-3 (7/15)(Central Islip, N.Y., July 15, 2006) – The Ducks trounced the visiting Road Warriors 10-3 in front of 6,328 fans at Citibank Park on Saturday night. Long Island has now won eight consecutive games in Central Islip, which is tied for the longest string of home ‘W’s” in franchise history (May 11-29, 2002). With a 3-0 lead in the third, the Ducks offense opened the floodgates, scoring seven runs on six hits off Warriors starter Kyle Goldwater and reliever Kelvin Garay. The Road Warriors cut into the 10-0 deficit with a three-spot in the seventh, but that would be as close as they’d come as reliever Pete Hartmann allowed just two hits in a pair of scoreless frames to close out the game. Bill Pulsipher (3-0) picked up the win after fanning eight while allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk in a seven-inning outing. Goldwater (5-5) took the collar after allowing nine runs on nine hits and a pair of walks in 2.2 innings of work. The Ducks 12-hit night was fueled by Carlos Hernandez who finished the evening with three hits, two runs and a pair of RBI. Two of his three hits were for extra-bases; a double and a solo home run. Mel Stocker, Erick Almonte and (former Road Warrior) Bryan Goelz added two hits apiece. Almonte and Stocker drove in a pair while Goelz crossed home twice. |
