Warriors' Fulse Caps Win with Homer in 11th 7-6 (7/18)NEWARK, NJ – July 18, 2006 – Road Warriors center-fielder Sheldon Fulse hit his fifth home run of the season, a solo home run to left field in the top of the 11th inning to beat the Newark Bears 7-6 Tuesday afternoon at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Trailing the Road Warriors 6-4 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, Bears designated hitter Will Pennyfeather led off with a single. After reaching second base on a ground out by left fielder Jose Herrera, first baseman Alexis Hernandez and center fielder Anthony Sanders each walked to load the bases, right fielder Al Benjamin delivered a two-run double to left field tying the game at 6. Benjamin finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI. Sanders also had multiple hits for the Bears finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. For the Road Warriors, Fulse ended the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Jeremy Hill (2-3) took the loss for the Bears after allowing one run on one hit in two innings of relief, while Angelo Burrows (1-0) earned the victory throwing two scoreless innings in allowing one hit and striking out two. |
