TAKE 2 OF 3 FROM BLUEFISH

The Bridgeport Bluefish dropped the rubber match of a three game series against the Road Warriors on Sunday afternoon in front of 3,029 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Kevin Hodges (6-6) got the loss for the Bluefish, and Chris Eichkorst (1-10) picked up his first win of the year. Hodges started the game by walking Nick Ortiz and hitting Teuris Olivares. After getting Huggins to strike out, Hodges hit Manny Mejia, setting up the Road Warriors with loaded bases. Hodges then settled down and struck out Derek Barrows and forced Sandy Aracena to ground out to first to end the inning. Buzz Hannahan earned his first homerun of the year in the first inning when he took a 3-1 pitch from Chris Eichkorst over the left field wall. Deivi Cruz followed with a single, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Huggins got on base in the third with a single, and scored when Derek barrows singled, putting the Road Warriors on the board and tying the game at one. The Road Warriors took the lead in the top of the fifth when Sandy Aracena singled through the right side to bring in Mejia from third. Nick Ortiz added another run for the Road Warriors on a hit and run double that scored Sheldon Fulse from first-base putting the Road Warriors at a 3-1 lead in the eighth. The Road Warriors tacked on another run in the ninth and the Bluefish wouldn't get any back in the 4-1 loss. |
