Warriors Get Plowed by Ducks 20-1 (7/16)(Central Islip, N.Y., July 16, 2006) – Long Island registered their franchise record ninth straight victory at Citibank Park with a 20-1 decision over the visiting Road Warriors in front of 6,311 fans on Sunday. The 2006 Atlantic League North Division first half champion Ducks have now won 15 of their past 16 contests. The Ducks touched up the Warriors pitching staff for 14 runs over the game’s first three innings before adding a five spot in the seventh and a run in the eighth. The traveling squad plated their lone run on an RBI single by Teuris Olivares in the third. Tim Cain (1-1) notched his Atlantic League record 66th career win after limiting the Road Warriors to a run on six hits and a pair of walks in seven innings of work. Kevin Mannix closed out the game with two shutout relief innings. Seven of the Ducks nine starter registered multiple hits, while six of the nine registered multiple RBI’s. Brad King led Long Island’s offensive explosion with three hits, a pair of runs scored and five RBI. |
